Thank you for visiting the website of the Civil War Field Music of the 1st Pennsylvania Reserves Volunteer Corps proudly portrayed by the B.S.A. Troop 53 Fife and Drum Corps and Venture Crew 53.

The mission of our fife and drum corps is very clear,

To Preserve our Civil War Heritage
To Honor Our Nation's Veterans
To Promote the Ideals of Scouting

The Troop 53 Fife and Drum Corps (FDC) participates in numerous living history events, battle reenactments, veterans' ceremonies, community festivals and parades. They portray the Field Music of the 1st Regiment Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps (PRVC) and serve as the official Field Music for the PA Reserve Battalion. They were featured in the August 2007 issue of Boys' Life magazine participating in Gettysburg's Remembrance Day ceremonies. Some members also perform on strings, tin flutes and drums in the Maytown 1860 Centennial Band.

Formed in 2004, the Boy Scout Troop 53 Fife & Drum Corps (FDC) began reenacting at the 145th Anniversary of First Bull Run in 2006. The Corps formed Venture Crew 53 in 2008 to allow young men and women ages 14-20 to join the FDC. Musical instruments, Civil War uniforms and equipment are provided by the FDC although some members own their own. The Corps also provides group instruction in fife, drum or bugle, and participates in special instructional events such as the U.S Army "Old Guard" Fife and Drum Corps Junior Workshop in Arlington VA.

Members pay dues and event fees to cover operating costs. Generous sponsors defray uniform, instrument and equipment costs. The Fife and Drum Corps accepts members, ages 11-20, expressing an interest in Civil War music through Troop 53 and Venture Crew 53. Details are available on this website. The FDC also has adult members participating as leaders and instructors who register as scout leaders. While the current members of the Fife and Drum Corps hail from all over Lancaster County Pennsylvania, there is no residency requirement for membership.

The Troop 53 Fife and Drum Corp with Venture Crew 53 graciously extend a broad invitation to join in this unique scouting experience.
